Custom Die-Cuts for Scalable Production
Standard die-cut discs, donuts, and tape rolls are well suited for basic flat-surface masking tasks.
However, they reach their limits with complex parts, such as irregular geometries, multi-feature components requiring simultaneous masking of multiple zones, or high-volume production where manual cutting slows throughput and increases variability.
Custom die-cuts provide a more effective solution.
Our die-cut masking sheets are manufactured to your specifications based on CAD data, drawings, or physical samples. Each part fits precisely, masks only required areas, and removes cleanly after every cycle. This ensures consistent protection, reduces overspray and edge bleed, and minimizes rework from manual tape masking.
-
Fast Turnaround Custom Manufacturing
- Part designs are confirmed within 48 hours, with production in 1 to 2 weeks. The process is optimized for fast turnaround and low tooling cost.
- Tooling is a one-time investment and retained for the lifetime of your project at no additional charge.
- Per-unit costs are significantly lower than manual masking in repeat or high-volume production.
- Sample sets are available to validate fit, adhesion, and performance before full production.
- Materials are rated up to 260°C / 500°F with ±0.1 mm accuracy, including polyimide, polyester, crepe, and metal foils.

Our process from request to production supply.
Step 1
Application Review
We review your drawing, CAD model, or part sample. The review covers the feature to be masked, process type (e.g., powder coating, anodizing), temperature exposure, chemical environment, and the required masking tolerance.
Step 2
Concept Development
Based on the application review, we select the optimal tape material (Polyester, Kapton®, Foil, Crepe) and design the die-cut shape. We incorporate productivity features such as pull-tabs for easy removal, slit-back liners for fast application, or alignment marks for precise positioning.
Step 3 (optional)
Prototyping & Sampling
Prototype die-cuts are produced for fit, handling, and process validation. This step confirms that the masking tape has the correct shape and accuracy and performs as planned in its application, full series production is committed.
Step 4
Production Supply
Following successful validation, the die-cuts move to repeatable series production using rotary or flatbed die-cutting equipment. Parts can be supplied loose, on continuous rolls, or as complete component-specific masking kits to support your production line efficiency.
Engineering Criteria
Engineered around the variables that decide your production efficiency
Material Selection
The right material depends on your process temperature, chemical exposure, and required masking duration.
Polyimide (Kapton) is the standard choice for powder coating, e-coating, and high-temperature paint curing, rated to 260°C. Polyester (PET) suits lower-temperature processes up to 150°C and is commonly used for wet spray painting and anodizing. Crepe paper is a cost-effective option for short-duration masking up to around 120°C. Aluminium and lead foil die-cuts are used where conductivity or radiation shielding is required, such as selective plating and EMI shielding.
Material selection is confirmed during the application review before tooling is cut.
Adhesive Selection & Residue
Adhesive grade is the primary factor in residue risk. Silicone adhesives leave the least residue at elevated temperatures and are the standard choice for powder coating and e-coating. Acrylic adhesives offer stronger initial tack and suit lower-temperature processes. Rubber adhesives are used for short-duration masking where easy removal is the priority.
All custom die-cuts are supplied with adhesive grades matched to your process temperature and substrate. For sensitive surfaces such as anodized aluminium or precision-machined bores, adhesive tack level and release characteristics are confirmed during sample qualification before series supply begins.
Dimensional Accuracy & Edge Quality
Custom die-cuts are produced to ±0.1 mm dimensional accuracy. Edge quality is clean and consistent across the full production run, with no burrs, tears, or adhesive squeeze-out at the cut edge.
For parts with tight masking zones such as narrow annular rings, small-bore covers, or shapes with multiple cut-outs, dimensional accuracy at the edge is critical to prevent coating bleed under the foil. Samples are supplied before series production to allow you to validate edge fit and coverage in your actual process environment.
Liner Configuration & Application Speed
Liners can be supplied with pull-tabs, extended flap sections, or slit-back configurations that allow operators to place and remove parts quickly without touching the adhesive surface.
For high-volume lines, die-cuts can be supplied in roll or fan-fold format for dispenser compatibility, or as pre-kitted sets on a single carrier liner where one kit covers one complete part. This eliminates counting and selection steps at the line and reduces the risk of missed masking zones on complex or variant-heavy parts.
MOQ, Lead Time & Repeat Orders
Tooling is a one-time investment. Once your die is cut, it is held at no charge for the lifetime of your project.
Sample sets are typically available within 5 to 7 working days. Series production starts from 1,000 pieces per shape. Repeat orders are fulfilled from finished-goods stock where possible, with standard lead times of 5 to 10 working days depending on quantity and material.
For high-volume programmes, we offer scheduled release orders and consignment stock arrangements to ensure line continuity without overstocking.
